The annual Old Southwellian Society Garden Party took place on Saturday June 18th and was a resounding success. Indy band 'Little Me' played music late into the evening providing the audience with an excellent live set of tracks from their latest album 'Games'.
The day commenced at 5pm with fun and games, including an inflatable bungee run and bouncy castle. This was promptly followed by a mouth watering hog roast and barbecue.
Newly elected President of the society, David Loughton, said the day was a success and certainly one to remember with over 700 people turning up on the beautiful sunny day to join in the festivities.
The purpose of the day was to raise awareness of the Old Southwellian Society to the people of Southwell during the town festival. The society is currently recruiting new members and anyone wishing to hear more our events should contact us at the address below. The Society's events include the Garden Party, Annual Dinner, Concerts and Sports matches.
During the day a collection for Caudwell House raised a substantial amount and the OSS committee would like to thank everyone who made a donation. The staging for the band was kindly provided by Mr Troughton of The Minster School.

With over 100 years of history the Old Southwellian Society has the potential to be a beneficial organisation for the Minster Schools alumni and the people of Southwell. The Society is currently going through a period of regeneration and is seeking your help.
In the centenary year of the society the current committee is looking to recruit one new representative for every decade of the society's history (between 1940 and 2006)
Applications will be welcome from grammar and comprehensive school alumni who can spare one evening every quarter to attend the Southwell based committee meetings. These meetings usually take place in The Saracens Head.
The Society organises an annual dinner, which attracted 100 alumni this year, and the highly popular summer garden party. There is also scope for organising other events to appeal to different year groups.
The society has a sound financial backing and a large membership database. However due to the recent resignation of a long serving officer, the Society is also looking for a secretary to join the other members of the committee.
We are also seeking an able web designer who has time to help with the upgrade of the society's website.
Anyone interested in applying should contact;
